"Hopes, wishes for 33 fine young men, women"

The Yorktown High School graduation commencement ceremony was held at Wildcat Stadium on Friday, June 6, at 8 p.m., in front of a large audience. As the new principal completing my first year I can not adequately express in words my hopes and well wishes for these 33 fine young men and women as we sent them out into the world. I did not give a traditional commencement address; but had I done so here it is.
We come here this evening to celebrate the graduation of the Yorktown High School Class of 2014. On behalf of the Board of Education, administration, faculty, staff, and community, I offer our prayers and hopes for their continued health, happiness, and productive success in whatever endeavors they choose to pursue from this day forward.
We began the year in a beautiful new building with high hopes and embracing Yorktown ISD's "Excellence in Rural Education" as our guiding principle. In addition, we established the campus theme to "Restore the Roar" during the coming year. I'm going to give you my scorecard and let you decide how we did.
