5 Cuero athletes return to AAU Junior Olympics


The Cuero Select Track Club found their way returning to the AAU Junior Olympics after 16 members of the track team qualified at the National Qualifier Track Meet held at the D.W. Rutledge Stadium in Converse at Judson High School on June 26.
Kyron Williams was one of those athletes who went to Michigan last year. He said, “We placed 22nd overall. I want us to do better [this year] so I help motivate the others to practice and work hard.” Kyron will compete in the 15/16 year old division in the 100m dash.
Jaylem Johnson is making his first appearance to the Junior Olympics. He will compete in the 13 year old division for the 100m and 200m dash. Jaylem said, “Kyron motivates me by pushing me. I expect to see a lot of fast people.”
