Lady Gobblers win three tournament games

 

During the opening of the Cuero Tournament on Feb. 21, the Lady Gobblers faced Refugio Bobcats with a loss of 15-3. 
In their second tournament match they played  the Bay City Black Cats stepping up their game with a win 9-3.

Kitty Kats comeback win over Bobcats

 

Yorktown Lady Wildcats played the Bloomington Bobcats at home on Feb. 19 for a dramatic comeback in the last inning winning 5-4.
The Kat softball team was down by one  run going into their last at bat in the bottom of the 7th inning. Ashley Fitts executed a two out squeeze bunt that scored Caitlin Seifert to tie the game. Ashley then stole second base. Reagan Cunningham delivered the game winning hit to right-field scoring Fitts with the decisive run.

Lady Pirates receive all district honors

Cats drop play-off game to Woodsboro

 

On Feb. 22 the Yorktown Wildcats fell short on their quest for Area Championship losing to Woodsboro by a score of 63 - 43.
The Wildcats played hard and hung tough for most of their game until foul trouble put them at a disadvantage against the 6'5 and the 6'4  post players from Woodsboro.  
Late in the game, Yorktown's big guys were on the bench from all the fouls allowing the Eagles to start to take control of the boards and the game. 
Wildcats end the season as District Champs, Bi-district champs and Area finalists.

Wildcats playing for area championship

Yorktown Wildcats lost the Runge playoff game Feb. 12, 36-33. The Wildcats played a warm up game against Shiner Monday. On Friday, the Wildcats will play the winner of the Woodsboro, La Villa game for the area championship title. Location of the game is to be determined. Big buck winners

The Western DeWitt Wildlife Management Association held its annual Big Buck Contest Awards Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Yorktown Fire Station.

Big Buck award winners were: 1st place, Jerry Steves, savage model 14 rifle .308 caliber, donated by EKPE Ranch, Watson AG Service and Warwas Construction; 2nd, T.R. Theriot, Hercules 100# tail gate feeder, South Texas Air Conditioning and Heating; 3rd, Larry Franke, custom receiver hitch game Winch, Menn’s Welding Service; 4th, Brain

YHS powerlifting teams

 

The Yorktown Powerlifting Teams had a chance to lift at home Saturday, Feb. 2.
A total of 248 lifters signed up to lift and the Yorktown lifters did very well in front of the home crowd.
Caleb Schendel finished in 5th place in the 165 pound weight class, by lifting a total of 940 pounds.

Powerlifting in Stockdale

The Yorktown Powerlifting Teams traveled to Stockdale on Saturday, Feb. 9 and participated in the Brahma Invitational.

Another great showing by the YHS Powerlifters as they brought back several medals.

Caleb Schendel finished in 2nd place in the 165 weight class,by lifting a total of 975 pounds.

Gobblers prepare for baseball season

The Gobblers hosted Industrial in a scrimmage on Feb. 8. The Gobblers will travel to Victoria East High School for another scrimmage on Tuesday, Feb. 12. The team will participate in the Hit-a-Thon/Alumni Game Saturday, Feb. 16. The first game of the season will be held in Schulenburg on Monday, Feb. 18.
