Blackwell commends Historical Commission

Dear Editor,

Kudos to the DeWitt County Historical Commission for planning and putting on two wonderful events the weekend of Sept. 29-30. The “Lives Remembered” enactment at Lifeway Church introduced those present to people who had lived in DeWitt County in the past. Some were prominent citizens with wealth and businesses and others were ordinary people who lived here and raised their families during hard times, war and illness. All the actors learned their parts so well, you felt like they were the actual person.

On Sunday, “Let Freedom Ring” was celebrated in our park-dedicated to all veterans, past, present and future. The program was very informative, the music was super, the monument is very special and the crowd was wonderful. The band playing the songs of the armed services brought tears to your eyes.  There was an abundance of American Pride exhibited by the guests and participants.

I certainly want to thank the people who participated in and planned both of these events for our community and hope you were able to attend at least one of them, if not both, because they were outstanding.
