The public library

Dear Editor,

I realize that it is 2018. I was of the opinion that libraries were quickly becoming obsolete and would soon be extincy. I was so wrong! Our local library saves my life in a couple of different ways.

They have toddler story time each week that my kids absolutely love! They read books, sing songs, dance, and do craft with them (crafting is not my love language, so when other people graciously do it with my kiddos, I’m there!) It is awesome! This event is actually was re-engaged me with the library.

Going each week and browsing the bookshelves reminded me that in a former life I loved to read! So guess what I do during my golden hours now? Yup. I read. I read a lot. I honestly can’t read fast enough for all the books I want to read!

What’s on my 2018 recommended book list is a whole different blog post, but the library saves my bank account quite a bit. Have you all heard if Interlibrary Loan? Or the OverDrive App? Did you know that your local library (if you live in a small town like me and have limited resources) can order you almost any book circulated however possible.

So, the library has become one of my favorite places! They know my name and my kids’ names, and it is a place that brings me joy when I pick up a new book to read, return a completed book, or walk my kids out singing and dancing to the “Monkey Song” from Toddler Story Time.

If you are a reader like me, go! Get off Amazon, save yourself some moola, and get your books from the library! You can check on toddler programs while you’re at it!
