Yorktown American Legion

Yorktown Community:

American Legion Post #272 is looking for new members who are interested in becoming leaders in keeping the tradition of the Yorktown American Legion Post a viable and working Post.

In the past, members have been struggling to keep the dignity of those who have served in past wars here at home in a place that is dedicated to help in various endeavors in the community.

After serving in the military here at home, it is one’s duty to serve those who have given their lives and dedication in helping in an organization that it totally involved in community activities.

In the past few years, our organization has dwindled due to only a few due to deaths and old age, unable to keep this organization going.

We are desperately trying to hold on, but if new members don’t come forward, we will need to abolish the American Legion Post #272 and the facilities that exist on Highway 72 north of Yorktown.

It is with a sad heart to say it, but we are unable to continue and it seems that we don’t care but in reality, we aren’t able.  With members aging over 70-80-90+ years old and still wanting the Post to keep going, it’s hard to let go.

Especially those who have been members for 50 and 60 years.  We don’t have enough active members to even hold a meeting anymore. If you are interested in keeping the Post going, please contact Gilbert Pargmann, Bill Robinson or Bert Biemer. Thank You, Gilbert Pargmann Active Commander Yorktown American Legion Post #272
