Yorktown Chamber of Commerce thanks community
The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce was happy to host “Christmas with Santa” in Yorktown on Thursday, Dec. 6 for the community of Yorktown. Although everything was planned to have Santa join us downtown on East Main Street the weather was not looking favorable. The festivities were moved to the Yorktown Chamber headquarters. Nonetheless the show still went on and many came out to visit Santa and enjoy and evening of entertainment and fellowship. Santa arrived at 6 courtesy of the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department on a big red fire truck to the excitement of the youth present. The Hermann Sons dancers danced and the Yorktown High School band played. Yorktown Little League had cocoa and cookies and St. Paul Lutheran Church popped some fresh popcorn for all to enjoy. Holy Cross handed out candy canes and Skinny with Skinny’s Fireworks had his fun carnival games for the kids to play. The youth were entertained while waiting for their chance to visit with Santa by the local Girl Scouts with Christmas crafts. The first Thursday of December is a fun tradition for the community of Yorktown and the Chamber is pleased to host this time honored tradition on the same evening that the local volunteer fire departments has their annual stew supper and the Yorktown Lions Club host their annual gun raffle drawing. This is also the first week to vote on your favorite decorated Christmas Tree at the Yorktown Historical Museum where canned goods are collected for the local YAMS food bank, don’t forget to stop by there are some very beautiful and cleverly decorated trees. On behalf of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, thanks for the support of all those involved that made this event so successful. May you all have a Blessed Christmas!
Sincerely, Tammy Bitterly Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director
