Cuero Heritage Museum is already getting into the Christmas spirit. Their newest Christmas exhibit is now on display through Jan. 15, featuring Nutcrackers in Candy Land, a collection from Liz Heiser, but that’s not all this kids-themed exhibition has to offer.

Over a year in the works, museum manager Amber Fitts had wanted to do something this year with kids in mind. Heiser, who’s a frequent collaborator with the museum, noted having a nutcracker collection. From there, they put their minds together and developed this holiday display.

“It would be kind of interesting to combine that with Candy Land,” Fitts said of the nutcrackers. “That’s where the idea originated from.” Since 2005, the Cuero Heritage Museum have showcased Christmas-themed exhibits. It all started with purchasing Marie Kerjci’s Christmas collection.

“Marie celebrated Christmas 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year,” Wayne Adickes said. “She never took her Christmas tree down. Her house was nothing but Christmas. She never turned her Christmas lights off.”
