Two local performers hit the Budweiser stage this year at the 47th annual Cuero Turkeyfest; 21-year-old Travis Aaron Thamm and 18-year-old Devyn Whittington stood under the bright lights on Saturday and Sunday to perform for hundreds of Turkeyfest attendees. As natives to the area, both young men were accustomed to the festival and had attended for years to hear plenty of great performers booked for the show.

This year, however, the boys were the show. Whittington also sang the National Anthem before The Great Gobbler Gallop, a turkey race between Cuero’s Ruby Begonia and Worthington, Minnesota’s Paycheck, which was followed by a parade. “I was really nervous,” stated Whittington of singing the National Anthem in front of pretty much the entire town of Cuero.

“But, all of my coaches were there, and my parents and all of my supporters, so it really helped me.”
