County talks Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery funds

At Wednesday’s DeWitt County Commissioners meeting, consideration regarding the application process for the County to receive hurricane disaster funding from the state took up the bulk of the time.
Representatives from the Texas General Land Office spoke to the County about the upcoming deadline for the County to apply for two separate grants that had been allocated to the DeWitt County from the state; an acquisition allocation for $1.9 million and an infrastructure grant for $866,860.
Suzanne Nelson from the Texas Land Office (TLO) in Austin explained that the TLO manages $5 million that was allocated to Texas from the federal government for Hurricane Harvey disaster funds, these funds are then transfered to separate regional counsels to decide who in the area got a certain amount of funding.
DeWitt County is under the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission.
