DeWitt County Readers' Choice contest

In a time where community support and recognition means the most, The Cuero Record and Yorktown News-View decided to host the 2020 DeWitt County Readers’ Choice Best of the Best contest.

With businesses and services closing both temporarily and, even some permanently, we felt that it was extraordinarily important to recognize those that keep this area going, especially in their time of need.

Winning a Best of the Best category, or even being nominated, sheds a light on those working continuously to provide for DeWitt County.

While creating the groups and categories for nominations, we were impressed and reminded that DeWitt County’s people, businesses, and services carry so much diversity. From quaint boutiques to energetic school coaches and large community employers, DeWitt County has proven to be a  place that has it all.

“The DeWitt County community truly showed up for the first-ever Readers’ Choice section,” said The Record and News-View publisher, Sonya Timpone. “With almost 200 categories and over 75,000 votes, the people of DeWitt County went above and beyond what we expected in the first year. Businesses needed our support more than ever, and we hope that by creating this contest, we can give them just that.”

Winners of the contest get not only bragging rights, but also a plaque to show off in their businesses, and a chance to continue serving DeWitt County and the drive to be better for the following year.

A learning curve for both us and contest users, we hope that the experience of voting and nominating was exciting and eye-opening enough to keep you coming back next year!

The Cuero Record and Yorktown News-View would like to congratulate both those who were nominated and winners of the Readers’ Choice contest. We thank each and every person that participated in the voting process, and look forward to creating a new tradition that the community can be involved in!
