A dream come true

Tucked away only a few miles outside of Yorktown is beautiful Texas country. Part of that land now features Teaghlach Meadows, a bed and breakfast/event center owned by Mildred and Stayton Weldon and operated by their granddaughter, Kayla Pickett. The Scottish-Gaelic origin of teaghlach means family.

Only three years ago, this very same property was a horse ranch. The Weldons purchased the land in November of 2014 with the hopes of starting a business out there.

“The main house from the previous owners was turned into a bed and breakfast,” Pickett said. 

From there, they have also started an event center for weddings and parties. The weddings are what particularly interest Pickett.
