John C. French unveils learning garden

Fruits and vegetables are often not the go-to items for children when preparing their plates for meals. They may be unsure how those vibrant-colored and oddly shaped foods taste. The DeWitt County Extension Office has stepped in to help introduce healthy living to John C. French Elementary students through their Learn, Grow, Eat & GO! program.

“It’s really awesome to see our community come together for our kids,” John C. French principal Jennifer Bauer said.

As part of the program, a garden was made at the school through the donations and work of Alamo Lumber, Bob Lucas and Bill Bertholf.
