One county, one family

It all started with an idea. DeWitt County Sheriff Carl Bowen recalled his time cleaning up a family member’s home after a prior flood. 

“The best thing anyone did for us was show up out of nowhere with a hot meal. Eating was honestly the last thing on our mind,” said Bowen.

With that idea, a huge heart, and many volunteers, Bowen set out Saturday to pay back the kindness his family was once shown. Volunteers from all parts of DeWitt County, and one family who drove down from New Braunfels, met at Cuero’s Friar Ag Center early Saturday morning. They gathered to receive location assignments from Sheriff Bowen, and held a moment of prayer for the people of DeWitt County.
