On Saturday, June 30, the Catholic Daughters of Holy Cross, Court 1598 held a patriotic rosary in the park in front of the Yorktown Public Library. Over sixty community members came to participate in the event.
The rosary was led by Father Frank Lenz, Catholic Daughters members Patti Farley, Lorene Migura, Angie Stepanski, and Knights of Columbus members Mike Yeretsky and Joseph Jendrzey. The rosary petitioned prayers on behalf of all states in the United States and the people who live in them.
Participants were presented with Patriotic Rosaries that were handmade by the Catholic Daughters, as well as a Patriotic Rosary book, prayer cards,and auto magnet. Inside the package with the auto magnet, a small toy sodier was also placed, to remind the attendees of our men and woman laying their lives on the line to protect freedom around the world.
Between decades of the rosary, local DJ Val Mungia, who also provided sound reenforcement for those leading the rosary, played several patriotic songs including the National Anthem.
