Reagan and Allison Reitz, members of the Prarie St. 4-H Club, went above and beyond with their National 4-H Week service project. The sisters, Reagan in 6th grade and Allison in 4th, held a penny war at their respective schools to raise funds for the new Anne Friar Homemaking Building.
“Each grade level had a different jar,” Reagan explained, “You put coins in, and, let’s say 6th grade had more coins than 7th grade, 7th grade could take dollar bills and put them in 6th grade’s to sabotage.” The goal of a penny war is to collect the most coins, while dollar bills deduct points.
