A pet project

Every year, 3.9 million dogs enter animal shelters nationwide. Of those, approximately 2.7 million are euthanized, but just south of Yorktown and down a gravel road, there lies a modest homeplace where an open heart and willingness to offer a second chance at happiness is a standing rule.
Nicole Cox and her daughters, Brianna and Mikayla, are certainly not alone when they get home. From the moment one enters the gate, steps are shortened and attention is begged for by the 20 dogs looking for another friendly face.
