Saltwater disposal plant fire

Early Friday morning, the black of night was washed away as a salt water disposal site about 10 miles south of Cuero caught fire.

Around 4 a.m., as a Stallion Services vacuum truck was unloading salt water into the tank battery of the BRB Concepts, LLC’s Meyersville salt water disposal, a fire ignited. Thankfully, the three persons on the scene were able to escape the site unharmed. Sadly, the same cannot be said of the truck. Though the tractor of the rig is repairable and suffered relatively little damage, the trailer was a complete loss as over half of it was completely melted and unrecognizable.

Both Meyersville and Cuero fire departments responded, along with Cyndi Smith of DeWitt County Emergency Management. After allowing the fire to burn itself down to an approachable level, the firefighters moved in to extiguish the remaining flames.

According to Smith, the cause of the fire is under investigation, with a Texas Railroad Commission investigator enroute at the time of this reporting. Smith also stated on scene that the disposal well site has just passed a full inspection by the Railroad Commission the day prior to the incident.
