Turkeyfest cooking up new souvenir

For the first time since the inception of Cuero Turkeyfest, a cookbook is being planned as a souvenir for this year with a Cuero Turkeyfest theme.

Anyone who has a recipe which they would like to include in the cookbook is encouraged to send them to info@turkeyfest.org, but space is limited.

“We’re trying to get recipes through this month,” Annette Rath said. “We want to have it published for October, because it’s the 45th Annual Cuero Turkeyfest. We would like for that to be one of our souvenirs this year.”

Turkey Trot has had a cookbook made before, but this would be the first for Turkeyfest.

“It’s been a long time ago,” Rath noted. “There have been a few groups, committees that have sat down, but we have never published. This year we would really like to get everybody to help us out so that we can go and get a cookbook. It’ll have history in it also.”

The Turkeyfest Board is excited about this idea and having it put together.

Rath added, “I think it’s going to become a great coffee table book. I would love for it to give some history about the two towns [Cuero and Worthington, Minnesota]. I think the friendship is going to be the fun part, food and all that goes along with it.”

King Turkey Day of Worthington has written two since Rath has been involved with things since the late 1990s.

“I just feel like it’s time that Cuero Turkeyfest brings it back, and we have a Cuero Turkeyfest cookbook,” Rath said.

There will be 2,000 copies printed. Make sure to include your name, phone number and the name of your dish in the email. If you have questions, call 361-275-2725. For sponsorship ads, call Sonya Timpone at 361-275-3464.
