On Monday, the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, Woodmen Life of Yorktown presented a memorial edition Flag of Honor to the city of Yorktown. The presentation took place at 5D Steakhouse in Yorktown. Sadly, members of the city council were unable to attend as they were also having their regular meeting at City Hall.

The red and white stripes of the Flag of Honor are created with the names of each person who was tragically killed during the September 11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The Flag is a creation of John Michelotti to immortalize the individual victims of those attacks. Proceeds from Flag of Honor sales benefit numerous charities, as well as the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum at Ground Zero.

Woodmen of Yorktown also held a flag ceremony at midfield before the start of the Yorktown- Randolph football game.

Attending Woodmen members from left were Doug Wessels, Mark Coutee, Tyler Boaz, Trent Thompson, James Hurta, Bobby Schley, DJ Gonzales and Ethan Krause. Holding the flag are members Lydia Coutee, Margaret Krause, and Loys Feldhousen.
