Lillie Mae Langville died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 in Fillmore, California after a long illness, at age 94. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Harold Langville in 2005, and brother Arthur Wayne Mills in 2009.
Mrs. Langville is survived by her son Alan Ray Langville of Moorpark, California, and sister Marianne Keck of Cuero.
Lillie or “Lillian” was the first daughter of Sam Gordon Mills and Hattie (Kalich) Mills of Cuero, born April 12, 1923. She met her future husband after the family moved to Corpus Christi. Ray H. Langville of Portland, Oregon was stationed at the Naval Air Station on Padre Island during World War II. The couple were married in Dallas on Nov. 18, 1945.
After Mr. Langville completed his naval service in 1946, they moved to his hometown of Portland, Oregon, where Mr. Langville was employed with his father at V.H. Langville Manufacturing Co. After retirement, they resided in Las Vegas, Nev. from 1990 to 2005. Following her husband’s death, Mrs. Langville relocated to Ventura County, California to be close to her son.
Mrs. Langville was an accomplished amateur painter, receiving awards at the Ventura County Fair. Until illness restricted her activities, she was active in her church, and volunteered her time at local charity thrift shops. Previously she had been employed at department stores in the Portland, Oregon area. She had one son, Alan Ray, who was born Dec. 8, 1947.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, at Orchard Community Church in Ventura, Calif, Pastor Matt Hoyt presiding. Mrs. Langville’s remains are to be interred with those of her husband at Portland, Oregon Contributions in her memory may be made to Orchard Community Church, 8180 Telephone Road, Ventura, CA 93003.
