One year after attending the girls regional powerlifting meet for the first, Morgan Gale was back and this time with a teammate by her side. Even though Gale and Alayna Searcy didn’t qualify for state, they pushed each other to achieve more and have one more year to compete together.
Gale finished 10th with a combined lift of 805. The Cuero junior was not interested in powerlifting before her sophomore year, because she initially saw it as a waste of weekends.
“I realized it wasn’t,” Gale said. “I wanted to keep doing it.” Last year, I had a really good year. I went to regionals for the first time. This year, I wanted more girls to go to regionals and enjoy it as much as I did.”
Searcy and Gale would often start their days at 6 a.m. to prepare.
“Some days it was really hard, but we kept pushing through it,” Gale added. “It got us where we needed to be.”
