Harper rising high

With only two years left of high school basketball, Cuero junior Trelin Harper knows the time is now to bring Gobbler basketball to the forefront. Harper is spending his summer honing his craft as a member of the UpNext Sports AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) travel team.

Coaches for UpNext Sports noticed Harper during an All-American basketball showcase earlier this year in Houston.

“I wanted to see a bunch of players from around Texas play,” Harper said of his interest in the showcase. “One of the coaches there for the team really liked me. From there, he kind of recruited me to come see their practices and things took off.”

Since he started playing with the travel team based out of Houston, Harper has seen his game become more aggressive, as he’s had the opportunity to face talented competition.
