Resounding start to season for Gobblers

Missing practice time, a scrimmage and week one of the regular season did not seem to make much of a difference for Cuero in their 2017 season-opener. Playing in front of a packed house at Gobbler Stadium against their longtime rival, Yoakum, the Gobblers were poised from the outset, coming away with a sizable win, 41-13.

“I’m so proud of our kids,” head coach Travis Reeve said after the game. “Our kids and our community have been been through a lot the last two weeks. We practiced a day and a half and had an intersquad scrimmage. The rest of the time we spent helping our families, helping our neighbors.”
