For the second consecutive summer, Cuero not only qualified for the state 7on7 tournament in College Station but reached the championship bracket. Despite a 1-2 record in pool play, which included losses to Gatesville (27-26) and Needville (42-41 in overtime) and a win over last year’s state champion, Graham (27-25), Cuero was named a wild card for the championship bracket on day two. Cuero opened with a win over Stephenville (45-33) before losing to Mexia in the second round (32-14).

Simply qualifying for state and reaching the championship bracket was a feat in itself, especially when the win over Graham in pool play was sandwiched between two close losses.

“We grew together more,” senior Trey Moore said. “I’m looking for big things come fall. We have more to grow.”
